Wojak was a crudely drawn bald man with a distant stare and an expression of quiet devastation, and he became the internet's portrait of the human condition. He came in many moods — crying Wojak, doomer Wojak, chad vs. wojak — and his face could be layered onto any situation where a man has seen too much and understood too little. He was the anti-meme: no punchline, just a feeling, deployed in a thousand variations by a generation that used him to say what they couldn't say out loud. He died in 2021, not from overuse but from completion — he had expressed every feeling there was. He is survived by every screenshot of a man staring at his phone.
