Good Guy Greg was the ethical counterweight to Scumbag Steve: a bearded man with a flat cap and a halo of pure competence. 'Pays for the first date,' 'Actually reads the terms and conditions,' 'Returns the shopping cart to the corral.' He was the internet imagining what it would look like if it were a better person, which is to say he was a fantasy. He died in 2014, not from mockery but from being outlived by his own niceness — there are only so many decent deeds to document, and Greg had performed them all by year three. He is survived by every neighbor who brought their own chair.
