Obituary

At the 2021 presidential inauguration, Senator Bernie Sanders sat alone, in a folding chair, arms crossed, wearing enormous handmade mittens and a coat that looked borrowed from a man who owned one coat. A photographer captured it, and within hours Bernie had been photoshopped onto every surface on earth: on the moon, in The Lord of the Rings, at the Last Supper, on a bench with the cast of Friends. It died of spring. The mittens were auctioned for charity. The folding chair remains unclaimed.
