Peanut Butter Jelly Time was a flash animation of a banana dancing to a song about, and this is the entire premise, peanut butter and jelly. It was uploaded in 2002 and spread through the same flash-forward channels as All Your Base before it, reaching peak power in 2007 when it appeared in Family Guy and became the internet's go-to soundtrack for dancing fruit. It died quietly in 2009, a casualty of flash itself — the plugin that carried it was discontinued, and a banana that lives in a dead format is a banana without a home. Somewhere, on a preserved file, it still dances.
