Kermit Sipping Tea was a clip of the Muppets' Kermit, decked out in a fur coat, lifting a teacup to his lips with theatrical nonchalance while the internet supplied the subtext: 'Everyone is talking about it. But that's none of my business.' It was the meme of plausible deniability — the way you gossip while pretending you're above gossip, the way you stir the pot without touching the spoon. It died in 2019, not from overuse, but because the sip had said everything there was to say. The tea has long since gone cold. The judgment remains.
