“Cash me outside, how 'bout dat?”

Obituary

In September 2016, a 13-year-old named Danielle Bregoli appeared on Dr. Phil, argued with the audience, and delivered the line that would define her decade: 'Cash me outside, how 'bout dat?' The internet turned the challenge into a global catchphrase, remixed it into songs, and put it on merchandise. Bregoli, to her credit, leaned all the way in — she became a rapper, a boxer, and a figure with real staying power, which is the opposite of what happens to most meme subjects. The meme died in 2017, when the girl it belonged to outgrew it. The phrase remains, filed under 'challenges you do not accept in writing.'
