Among Us was a two-year-old indie game about a spaceship crew with an impostor among them — and in the autumn of 2020, it became the most played game on earth and the entire internet's vocabulary. 'Sus' entered the language. 'I saw you vent.' 'Red is sus.' Every conversation, work call, and family dinner became an accusation. It died in 2021 when the streaming era moved on and the game returned to the modest indie it had always been, like a party guest who goes home and becomes a normal person again. It was the last great game meme. It was never sus.
